Accenture Purchases Pegasystems Software Consultant Knowledge Rules

Accenture revealed that it has acquired Knowledge Rules, a consulting company specializing in Pegasystems’ Business Process Management (BPM) software. Accenture says the acquisition will be used to enhance the
Pegasystems capabilities of its BPM business in the US and Europe. No financial terms for the transaction were disclosed.

Adobe Announces Completion of Acquisition by Day Software

Adobe announced that it has completed its acquisition of Day Software Holding. Following several extensions, Adobe now holds 98 percent of all available shares in the software company. In accordance with its announced
intentions Adobe has filed with Swiss authorities of have all share of the company not held by itself cancelled. Day’s assets will continue as part of Adobe’s Digital Enterprise Solutions Business Unit.

AT&T Acquires Assets from inCompass Wireless

AT&T announced it has “acquired certain assets, and hired certain employees” from inCompass Wireless (formerly inCode Telecom’s Enterprise Mobility Solutions Group). AT&T said the acquisition enhances its enterprise
mobility solutions and professional services expertise. Terms of the deal were not disclosed. inCompass Wireless is a mobile system integrator.

CA Announces Completion of Hyperformix Acquisition

Computer Associates (CA) announced that it has completed its acquisition of Hyperformix, a provider of capacity management software for dynamic physical, virtual, and cloud IT infrastructures. CA says that it will use
the acquisition to enhance its offerings in the area of virtualization management. The company has set up a Web site to explain its future plans for Hyperformix, and what the acquisition means to the customers
of both companies.

Dell to Acquire Boomi for Cloud Migration Technology

Dell announced it will purchase Boomi, a Software as a Service (SaaS) firm that offers a pure SaaS application integration program for transferring data between cloud based and
on-premise applications without needing appliances, software, or coding. The acquisition represents a step by Dell toward building a technology portfolio for Web based computing, while also accommodating cloud adoption management and integration with
existing applications and databases. Boomi’s technology is mostly used for customer relationship management, marketing, financial, human resources, content management, and service desk management.

Global Crossing Acquires Genesis Networks

Global Crossing said it has acquired global video services provider Genesis Networks for approximately $27 million USD, including $15 million in connection with the
repayment of existing debt. With the acquisition, Global Crossing gains Genesis Networks’ proprietary IRIS customer interface, which provides an “on-demand” capability that allows customers direct access and control over their global media distribution
network, enabling self-provisioning and monitoring of transmission services.

Keane International to Merge with NTT DATA Subsidiary

Keane International announced that it has signed a definitive agreement to merge with Knight Subsidiary Corporation, a wholly owned subsidiary of Japanese IT services company NTT DATA. Keane will continue to be
headquartered in Boston, and will begin operating as a wholly-owned subsidiary of NTT DATA. The transaction is expected to close in December 2010, subject to regulatory approval. No financial terms for the transaction were announced.

McKesson to Acquire US Oncology

McKesson announced that it has signed a definitive agreement to purchase US Oncology, including the assumption of its outstanding debt, for the total of $2.16 billion. The businesses will be combined to form a new
entity called McKesson Specialty Care Solutions. It will primarily remain focused on the Oncology sector of the healthcare market. McKesson hopes to close the transaction prior to the closing of the third quarter of its fiscal year, which ends December 31,
2010.

NTT Data to Buy IT Services Firm Keane

Japan-based NTT Data will acquire US-based IT services firm Keane. According to a Keane press
release
, NTT Data and Keane’s parent company Keane International have signed a definitive merger agreement under which Knight Subsidiary, a wholly-owned subsidiary of NTT Data, will merge with Keane International, resulting in Keane becoming a
wholly-owned subsidiary of NTT Data. The transaction is subject to customary closing conditions and regulatory compliance approvals. Keane International is majority owned by Citigroup Venture Capital International Technology. Financial terms of the deal
were not disclosed. It is expected to close in December, subject to approvals.

Oracle Announces Acquisition of Art Technology Group

Oracle announced that it has acquired Art Technology Group (ATG), a provider of eCommerce software and on-demand commerce optimization applications, for $6.00 per share or approximately $1 billion. Oracle says the
transaction will help it expand its CRM, ERP, Retail, and Supply Chain offerings. The transaction is expected to close some time in early 2011, subject to regulatory approval.

Pricewaterhouse Coopers Completes Acquisition of Diamond

PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) announced that it has completed its acquisition of Diamond Management & Technology Consultants for $12.50 per share. PwC says the assets of the acquired company will be used to enhance the
capabilities of its Advisory practice. The acquisition brings 500 new consultants to PwC, including 58 principals. The company has said that it plans to keep the Diamond brand name, and that it will continue the DiamondExchange senior executive thought
leadership program.

Iowa Regulators Approve CenturyLink, Qwest Merger

The Iowa Utilities Board has unanimously-approved the pending merger between CenturyLink and Qwest Communications. Iowa is the first state with both CenturyLink and Qwest
local service areas to approve the deal. With the Iowa regulators’ okay, 12 states and the District of Columbia have now approved the merger, which CenturyLink expects to complete in the first half of next year. The companies must still receive approvals
from nine additional states and the Federal Communications Commission.

Windstream to Acquire Hosted Solutions

Little Rock, Arkansas-based telecom Windstream announced that it is has entered into a definitive agreement with ABRY Partners to acquire Hosted Solutions in an
all-cash transaction valued at $310 million. Hosted Solutions (Raleigh, NC), is a regional data center and managed hosting provider with more than 600 enterprise customers and approximately 125 employees. Windstream said the acquisition will increase the
scale and scope of its data center business by adding five SAS 70 Type II certified data centers in Raleigh and Charlotte, NC, and Boston with a total of 68,000 square feet of data center capacity. As a result, Windstream will have a combined total of 12
data centers across the US. The boards of both companies have approved the transaction, which is expected to close in the fourth quarter of 2010, subject to standard conditions including regulatory approvals.

Microsoft Launches Revamped Partner Program

Microsoft announced the launch of the revamped Microsoft Partners Network. The new program will feature multiple customization options, including tiered service plans, competence training in any of 29 areas,
social networking integration, cloud availability, and membership in one of several business support communities. More details on the new Microsoft Partners Program, including a full list of available options, are posted at Microsoft’s Partner Networkhomepage.

NEC, Partners Collaborate to Build OpenFlow Networks

NEC Corporation of America is working with several research institutions – including Stanford University, the Georgia Institute of Technology, and Raytheon BBN Technologies – to build
OpenFlow networks using ProgrammableFlow multi-layer switches. The switches support OpenFlow protocol development, it says. They are now in limited release availability.

Saba Launches New Partner Program: Saba Partner Connect

Saba announced the launch of its new alliances and channels program, Saba Partner Connect. Saba lists the benefits of the new program as including collaborative development of business objectives, expanded enablement

Toshiba, Intel, Samsung to Enter IC Alliance?

Toshiba Japan, Samsung Electronics, and Intel are expected to enter a joint development agreement – according to a recent Reuters report based on a Japanese news story – to develop new NAND Flash chips and microprocessors to increase the density and capacity of solid state drives. The companies are looking to cut the
size of NAND Flash memory circuitry from 20 to 10 nanometers. They anticipate production by 2016. The companies also plan to establish a consortium of 10 firms to make products in the semiconductor or related industries. Presumably, Japan’s Ministry of
Economy, Trade, and Industry will provide about five billion JPY ($61 million USD) of the 10 billion JPY in initial funds for the research and development effort.

Yahoo and Samsung to Sell Connected TVs in 26 More European Countries

Yahoo announced that, along with Samsung, it will be expanding the lineup of its Yahoo! Connected Televisions to include 26 new countries across Europe. New televisions will get
access to Samsung’s Internet@TV service, as well as a newly redesigned full-screen Yahoo user interface. Following the expanded rollout, Yahoo! Connected TVs will be available in a total of 39 countries worldwide.

DHS Releases Second Edition of Publication on Risk Terms

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) updated its Risk Lexicon, which comprises a comprehensive list of terms and definitions related to homeland security. Produced by the DHS Risk Steering Committee, the second
edition of the Risk Lexicon includes 50 new terms and definitions in addition to revised definitions for 23 of the original terms.

Cisco Unveils New Contact Center Software

Cisco introduced a new Customer Collaboration software suite that includes SocialMiner, software that enables companies to find and respond to customers and prospects communicating through public social media networks
like Twitter and Facebook, or other public forums and blogging sites. Status updates, forum posts, or blogs from customers can all be monitored in real time, alerting enterprises of conversations related to their brand, Cisco said. A second module of the
suite is Cisco Finesse, a desktop application for customer care representatives, and Rich Media Capture, which records conversations on the network, giving contact center agents access to captured media.

Bell Canada Adds On-Demand TV to its Fibe TV Service

Bell Canada announced that it will be bringing almost its entire primetime television lineup to subscribers to its Fibe TV service in a new on-demand offering. The CTV on-demand content will be available free of charge
to existing customers, and will join a library of more than 1,000 movies and shows already available to Fibe TV customers. Bell says it expects the Fibe TV service to have reached 2 million households by the end of 2011.

Cablevision Reaches Agreement with Fox Networks

Cablevision announced that it has ended its standoff with News Corps‘ Fox Networks. The Fox Networks channels have returned to Cablevision, and are immediately available.
The company did not disclose any financial aspects of its final agreement. However, it did comment on the fact that, although it believes Fox’s asking price is still disproportionate, it has been reduced from the original pricing increase, which caused the
long-simmering negotiations in the first place. The company says that it chose to end the negotiations due to a lack of FCC intervention, and a desire to stop denying its customers of Fox’s content.

Cox Communications Ramping Up for IPv6

Cox Communications announced that it is prepared to support Internet Protocol Version 6 (IPv6). The company is conducting active IPv6 trials with Cox Business customers and plans to extend the trials to its residential
product line “in the future,” Cox said. IPv4 is expected to reach its limit in 2012, when all Internet customers must begin migrating their devices and content to IPv6. Cox said its core network is fully IPv6 compliant and that it is transitioning its
network edge and support infrastructure from IPv4 to IPv6.

DISH Network Finally Reaches Agreement with Fox Networks

DISH Network announced that it has reached an agreement with News Corps‘ Fox Networks, following lengthy negotiations. The agreement provides for the carriage of Fox
Broadcasting Channels and Fox local affiliates, including FX, National Geographic Channel, and Fox’s 19 regional sports channels. Financial terms for the new agreement were not disclosed.

Sprint, Clearwire Launch 4G Services in Additional Cities

Sprint announced that its 4G service is now available to customers in New York City; Hartford, New Haven, and New Brunswick, CT; Trenton, NJ; and Tampa, FL. Sprint uses the Clearwire network for its 4G services. Clearwire also announced the availability of its branded service – CLEAR 4G – in the same cities.

T-Mobile, Verizon Unveil New Tiered Data Pricing

Both Verizon Wireless and T-Mobile USA have unveiled new tiered data plans over the past week. T-Mobile USA is offering, for a limited time, a 200 MB data plan in
addition to its existing $30 plan for unlimited data. The 200 MB plan will cost $10 per month with a two-year contract or $15 per month without a contract. T-Mobile will keep its $30 plan for unlimited data. T-Mobile USA told Fierce Wireless the $10 plan is promotional and that the $15 plan will still be available once the $10 plan is no longer available. T-Mobile is also launching a tethering option for smartphone customers. Customers
must buy the $30 data plan and a $15 per month add-on to turn their smartphone into a wireless modem. Verizon Wireless last week launched a promotional data plan offering 150 MB of data for $15 per month, in addition to its existing $30 per month for
unlimited data offering.

T-Mobile USA Expands Reach of High Speed Network

T-Mobile USA announced that it has expanded its version of 4G – its HSPA+ network – to six additional metropolitan areas, bringing 4G speed to 75 metro markets in the US. It also introduced two new products for the
network: the myTouch 4G smartphone, and the Dell Inspiron Mini 10 4G netbook. T-Mobile’s HSPA+ network has been expanded to Chicago, Illinois; Colorado Springs, Colorado; Ft. Wayne, Indiana; Louisville, Kentucky; and Raleigh-Durham and Wilmington, North
Carolina. The carrier said it plans to introduce new data plans for both smartphones and other broadband devices, with smartphone data plans starting as low as $10 per month.

Telefonica O2 to Provide 12,000 Lines of Wireless Service to Alstom

Telefonica O2 announced that it has signed a framework agreement with Alstom for the provision of mobile services across six countries in Europe, as well as in Brazil. The deal will incorporate 12,000 lines over the
seven included nations. Once completed, the communications network will be used to support Alstom’s power generation, power transmission, and rail infrastructure business. The contract has a duration of three years. No financial terms for the deal were
disclosed.

Accenture Receives Olympus Memory Works Contract

Accenture announced that it has been selected by Olympus Memory Works to provide support for its “ib on the net” project. The new offering is a Web-based photo storage
and sharing service. Accenture will provide strategic planning, systems integration, development, and business process outsourcing services. No financial terms for the agreement were disclosed.

IBM Launches New Federal Community Cloud

IBM announced the launch of a new cloud created specifically for the federal government. IBM said the new federal cloud service is in the process of receiving FedRAMP certification to meet FISMA (Federal Information
Security Management Act) compliance standards. More information about the Federal Community Cloud is available from IBM’s Federal services page. The firm also announced the launch
of a pilot program for its new Municipal Shared Services Cloud. IBM said the cloud-based system is capable of incorporating existing IT systems, and allowing multiple system vendors to still conduct their business independently from one another. The
Municipal Shared Services Cloud is expected to be put into use some time in early 2011 in several municipalities in New York and Michigan before expanding to additional cities.

NEC to Use SAP ERP for Cloud Oriented Data Centers

NEC Japan announced a new collaborative agreement with SAP, through which it will adopt SAP Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) as the application software it uses in the enterprise
core system area of its Cloud Oriented Data Centers, which NEC will globally develop. The companies also announced the launch of new joint ERP cloud service systems.

Oracle launches Cloud Resource Model API

Oracle announced the launch of its Oracle Cloud Resource Model Application Programming Interface (Oracle Cloud API), its product for managing cloud computing infrastructure. The new API follows Representational State
Transfer (REST) architecture, and uses HTTP methods to achieve provisioning, associating, modifying, and retiring of entities. The company has also submitted a subset of the API, to the Distributed Management Task Force (DMTF) for consideration in its

Unisys Launches IT Service Management SaaS Solution

Unisys announced the launch of its new Unisys IT Service Management Software as a Service (ITSM SaaS) solution. The new offering gives clients access to a set of Web-based IT service management tools based on a
standardized set of service-delivery processes. Unisys says this will allow them to deliver IT services to their customers in a uniform and reliable fashion. The ITSM SaaS service is modular, and customers will be billed on a subscription basis.

Zoho Adds Several New Features to its Mail Application

Zoho announced a list of new features added to its Zoho Mail application. The Web app now features drag-and-drop attachments, including support for adding multiple files at once; the ability to add leads and events to
Zoho CRM from within the Mail app; the ability to receive Zoho Calendar invites as ICS attachments; and the addition of “size” as a mail sorting option. The drag and drop attachments functionality requires a browser supporting the HTML5 Web protocol, which
includes the latest versions of all of the most commonly used browsers.

Alcatel to Contribute to Venezuelan Fiber Optic Network Upgrade

Alcatel-Lucent will serve as a supplier for Compania Anonima Nacional Telefonos de Venezuela’s national fiber optic network expansion project in Venezuela. Over the next two years, Alcatel will deploy 2,705
kilometers of fiber in central and western Venezuela, accounting for more than half of the project’s first phase. It will also provide project management, design engineering, fiber optic and passive elements sourcing, installation, testing, and training
services. The network is part of a nationwide, infrastructure development plan to extend broadband capacity across 20,000 kilometers, providing 12 million Venezuelans with simultaneous access to high definition TV, video on demand, SMS, and voice and high
speed Internet services.

Alcatel to Provide Equipment for Albanian Undersea Network

Alcatel-Lucent signed a supply contract with US based international carrier UNIFI Communications, to provide a private, undersea fiber optic cable system in Albania. The Balkans-Italy Network will connect
Tirana, Albania and Bari, Italy, and begin services by the end of 2011. Alcatel will deploy equipment at landing points to link Italy to the newly created Balkans Internet eXchange. UNIFI is developing BIX to serve as Albania’s first fiber connected data
center. It will provide connectivity to major telecommunications hubs located in Western Europe, including Milan, Frankfurt, Amsterdam, and London.

Alcatel to Provide Equipment for China Mobile, Telecom, Unicom

Alcatel-Lucent signed separate framework agreements with China Mobile, China Telecom, and China Unicom to provide network infrastructure and application services, as well as integration and maintenance
services. The contracts are worth nearly $1.7 billion USD.

Alcatel to Provide Wireless Network Architecture for Verizon

Alcatel-Lucent announced a four year, $4 billion USD agreement to provide wireless network architecture and services to support Verizon Wireless‘ 3G network
expansion and 4G/LTE build-out. The deployment will include LTE, code division multiple access radio network solutions, and IP, optical, and microwave backhaul and transport technology. Alcatel-Lucent is already a Verizon network infrastructure
supplier.

Alcatel Contracted for 360networks’ Network Upgrade

Alcatel-Lucent was selected to provide its Converged Backbone Transformation solution – which it says offers speeds of up to 100G – for 360networks. Presumably, the technology will allow it to offer improved
Internet and content services, including high definition video, and interactive and business critical applications, for more traffic. It will support the delivery of a regional, Layer 2 Ethernet over a dense wavelength division multiplexing network.
360networks’ network spans 18,000 miles of the US midwest.

Cisco to Provide Routers for ORION Research Network

Cisco Systems agreed to provide ASR 9000 series Aggregation Services Routers for the Ontario Research and Innovation Optical Network (ORION), for an Internet Protocol, Next
Generation Network upgrade. It says the routers will provide ORION with a greater capacity to support mounting global collaboration, distance learning, distributed computing, data mining, and other advanced applications.

Harris Corp to Build Statewide Public Radio Safety System for Vermont

Harris Corp announced that it has received a $14 million contract from the state of Vermont to provide a statewide public safety radio system. The new system will service first responders, as well as other local
government agencies. It will also be interoperable with existing systems in Canada. Harris says that it will accomplish the implementation of the system with virtually no building of new towers.

Huawei and Etisalat Complete Testing on 10G GPON

Huawei Technologies and Etisalat announced they completed full service testing for Huawei’s 10G GB passive optical network. The companies say the fully compatible service uses an
existing infrastructure without affecting the optical distribution network.

Juniper Upgrades Taiwanese University Core Network

Juniper Networks announced it provided routing and switching technology to help Taiwan’s National Chiao Tung University migrate its campus core network to accommodate increasing workloads and the demand for more
bandwidth by its students, faculty, and staff. The university is regarded as a top school for engineering, technology, and computer science in Taiwan.

Motorola to Continue Providing iDEN for NII Holdings

Motorola‘s Solutions business extended an agreement with NII Holdings to continue to supply an integrated Digital Enhanced Network (iDEN) infrastructure for three years. The contract includes hardware, software,
and services for Push to Talk. NII is a provider of mobile communications services in Argentina, Chile, Mexico, and Peru, and operates an international iDEN network that services more than 8.5 million subscribers. It operates under the Nextel brand in
Latin America. In addition, Motorola Mobility announced it will deploy its 7600 series of ultra broadband gateways for Swisscom, as it looks to deliver advanced services such as high definition video, high speed data, and VoIP for subscribers.

Nokia Siemens to Upgrade Afghan Wireless Network

Nokia Siemens Networks announced it will modernize and expand Afghan Wireless Communication’s 2.5G network to increase coverage – particularly in rural areas – throughout Afghanistan. Nokia Siemens will
provide mobile and subscriber management services, and will also upgrade the operator’s radio network with new base station and base station controller technology. There are about 17 million mobile subscribers in Afghanistan.

Adobe launches Adobe Connect 8 Web Conference Solution

Adobe announced the release of Adobe Connect 8, the latest version of the company’s Web conferencing solution. Updates to this edition include a more
intuitive user interface, improved sharing, Universal Voice, interoperability with existing video conference systems, and support for both desktop and mobile platforms via Adobe AIR. Adobe Connect 8 will be available as an on-site solution at the end of
November, and as a hosted service beginning in select locations in November and expanding through the remainder of the year.

Cisco Unveils TelePresence Rooms in Islamabad, Kuwait

Cisco Systems announced a new TelePresence room at its newly-opened office in Islamabad, and reported that providers FASTtelco and Tata Communications unveiled a Cisco based public TelePresence room in Kuwait City.
The latter TelePresence room is hosted at the Sheraton Hotel, with connectivity provided by Tata to hundreds of public telepresence rooms. Cisco’s TelePresence network consists of hosted and managed services within private networks.

Accenture to Support Navy’s SPIDER Project

Accenture announced that it has received a contract from the US Navy’s Space and Naval Warfare Systems Command (SPAWAR) for the provision of hardware and software engineering services designed to modernize mission
critical systems on Navy ships. Under the so-called SPAWAR Integrated Data Environment and Repository (SPIDER) contract, Accenture will deliver engineering services to maintain, modify, deploy, and sustain all of SPIDER’s systems. The contract has a
five-year duration, and a total value of $6.3 million.

Accenture Announces Contract with KF – The Swedish Cooperative Union

Accenture announced that it has signed a multi-year applications management services contract with KF – The Swedish Cooperative Union. Under the terms of the contract, Accenture will support the company’s SAP and
Microsoft applications, legacy mainframe applications, and the Web site of Coop, KF’s grocery store unit. No financial terms for the agreement were disclosed.

Cox Business announced that its Internet product has been enhanced with new managed services. The new capabilities include business-class backup, security, and email. Cox

Level 3 Adds Capacity and Network Locations to Its CDN

Level 3 said it has added significant capacity and five new network locations to its content delivery network (CDN). The completion of the CDN expansion has added 1.65 Terabits per second of globally-available Level
3 CDN capacity. As part of the augmentation, Level 3 has also added two Canadian cities (Toronto and Montreal) and three European cities (Brussels, Munich, and Hamburg) to its CDN. Colorado-based Level 3 is a Tier 1 Internet provider.

Nokia Siemens Rolls Out Mobile Analyzer Application

Nokia Siemens Networks launched its Mobile Quality Analyzer (MQA) for Mobile Broadband, which uses a mobile device client to report on the quality of 3G connections. The software provides real time data

Alcatel-Lucent Posts Profit; Revenue Up

Alcatel-Lucent posted a third quarter profit of 25 million euros ($35.3 million USD), compared to a 182 million euro loss in the third quarter of last year. Sales rose 10.5 percent to 4.1 billion euros.
Company officials called the quarter a “turning point,” after clinching $5.7 billion in contracts to build high-speed wireless networks and supply communications gear for the biggest mobile operators in the United States and China.

Acer Sales Remain Steady, 2011 Forecast Upbeat

Second place PC vendor Acer International reported revenues of 167.6 billion NTD ($5.35 billion USD) for the 2010 third quarter, ended September 30th, and projected that its PC sales would grow
an additional 10-15 percent next year due to growing demand in China and other emerging markets. These revenues were roughly the same compared to 2009 third quarter sales. Q3 profits were 4.3 billion NTD, up 24 percent from 2009 third quarter profits of
3.5 billion. Acer owned 13 percent of the global PC market in the third quarter, trailing only HP (17.6 percent), according to IDC and other industry reports.

AmerisourceBergen Posts Impressive Gains in 2010 Financial Results

AmerisourceBergen announced its fourth quarter and year-end results for the 2010 fiscal year. The company’s quarterly revenue totaled $19.7 billion, up 5.3% over the same period last year. Net income for
the quarter came in at $141 million, or $0.51 per share, versus the $130 million or $0.44 per share reported during the corresponding quarter of 2009. For the year, revenue totaled $77.9 billion, 8.6 percent higher than 2009’s total. Net income rose more
steeply, jumping 26.5% from $503 million in 2009 to $637 million this year. Earnings per share spiked 33%, year-over-year, reaching $2.26 after being reported at $1.70 in 2009. CEO R. David Yost warned that, althought the company expects to maintain its
momentum, it does not believe its 2010 earnings per share growth pace will continue into 2011.

AOL Announces Decreased Revenue, Increased Profits on Divestments

AOL announced its financial results for the third quarter of the 2010 fiscal year, ending September 30. The company’s revenue fell drastically, registering at $292.8 million, or 27% less than the $402 million reported a
year ago. Despite this, Net income was up a dramatic 132%, jumping from $74 million during the third quarter of 2009, to $171.6 million this quarter. This increase was primarily due to the company’s sale of its ICQ and Kayak businesses. Earnings per share
grew, though not at steeply, to reach $0.93, versus $0.67 reported during the corresponding quarter of 2009. The company says these results back up its continued intentions to make additional strategic acquisitions, and divest unprofitable portions of its
business.

Belgacom Reports Declining Revenue, Rising Profits in Q3

Belgacom reported its financial results for the third quarter of its 2010 fiscal year. The company posted total revenues of EUR 1.47 billion, this is down from the same period in 2009, when it posted a total revenue
of EUR 1.64 billion. On a more positive note, net income rose to hit EUR 216 million, versus the EUR 199 million reported a year ago. This brought earnings per share up to EUR 0.68, from EUR 0.61 during the same quarter of last year. Company CEO Didier
Bellens noted that these results were particularly impressive due to the strong affect recent regulatory measures have had on Belgacom.

Bell Canada Reports Modest Revenue Gains, Impressive Data Growth in Q3

Bell Canada posted its financial results for the third quarter of 2010. The company’s revenue totaled $4.5 billion, up 1.3% from the $4.45 billion reported during the third quarter of 2009. Net income fell 5.4% to $528
million, down from $558 million year-over-year. Earnings per share were $0.70, down 2.8% from the 0.72 reported during the corresponding quarter of 2009. Despite its overall losses, Bell saw record breaking growth in its mobile division, including a 39%
increase in mobile data revenue.

BMC Software Major Profit Increase in Q2 2011 Financial Results

BMC Software announced its financial results for the second quarter of its 2011 fiscal year. The company posted a revenue of $502.3 million, an 8.8% increase over the same period last year, when its revenue totaled
$461.8 million. Net earnings saw a major increase, rising almost 40% from $94.2 million in Q2 2010 to $131.8 million this quarter. Earnings per share spiked even higher with a 46% increase, rising from $0.50 a year ago, to $0.73. Company chairman and CEO
Bob Beauchamp said that the increased profits were the result of the company shifting its focus to cloud computing.

Capgemini Reports Third Quarter Revenue of EUR 2.1 Billion

Capgemini reported its total revenue for the third quarter of 2010. The company took in EUR 2.1 billion. This was an 8.2% increase over its total of EUR 1.9 billion from the same quarter of 2009. The company’s
best performer was its Technology Services, which saw its revenue increase by 7.9%, while the worst segment was Consulting Services, which posted a 4.1% decline in revenue, year-over-year. On these results, Capgemini has confirmed its prediction of a 3-5%
revenue growth for the second half of 2010.

CenturyLink Profits Down 18 Percent in Third Quarter

CenturyLink said its profits fell 18 percent in the third quarter from a year ago, when results were boosted by a one-time tax effect. The carrier, which is acquiring Qwest Communications, posted a net income of
$231 million USD, or 76 cents per share, in the July to September period. That was down from $281 million, or 94 cents per share, a year ago. Excluding costs incurred in the acquisition of Embarq last year and the pending deal to buy Qwest, CenturyLink
said earnings were 83 cents per share. Revenue fell 6.8 percent from a year ago to $1.75 billion.

Deutsche Telekom Reports Declining Revenue, Increased Income for Q3

Deutsche Telekom announced its financial results for the third quarter of 2010. The company’s revenue fell to EUR 15.6 billion, after coming in at EUR 16.2 billion during the same quarter of 2009. On a more positive
note, net income increased to EUR 1.03 billion, versus the EUR 959 billion reported a year ago. Deutsche Telekom lost about 1.12 million mobile customers in Europe since the third quarter of 2009. However it added approximately 300,000 to its US subscriber
base during the same period. On these results, the company affirmed its guidance for the end of 2010.

Global Crossing Reports Narrower Loss in Third Quarter

Global Crossing reported a third quarter net loss of $7 million USD, or $0.12 per share, compared with a loss of $74 million or $1.23 per share in the same period last year. Revenues rose slightly to $648
million from $643 million in the prior year. The rise was due mainly to higher revenues from Global Crossing Impsat, which were $146 million versus $129 million last year. Global Crossing UK revenues were lower, at $113 million compared with $120 million a
year ago. Other revenue fell slightly to $395 million. During the quarter, the company benefited from lower selling costs at $99 million versus $109 million last year.

Hughes Posts Improved Q3 Results following Net Losses in Q3 2009

Hughes reported its financial results for the third quarter of its 2010 fiscal year. The company’s revenue for the quarter was $266.3 million, up from the $251.4 million it reported a year ago. Net income recovered

Leap Wireless Posts Much Wider Third Quarter Loss

Leap Wireless, which owns the Cricket pre-paid wireless brand, said that while it added 600,000 customers in the third quarter, it still lost a net 200,000 subscribers
for the year so far. The company posted a third quarter loss of $533.3 million USD, or $7.06 a share, compared with a year-earlier loss of $65.4 million, or 85 cents a share. The third quarter loss minus write-downs was 98 cents. Revenue rose 0.5% to
$602.7 million. Despite the losses, Chief Executive Doug Hutcheson said the company saw an improved customer turnover rate and better revenue per user at the end of the third quarter and moving into the end of the year.

McAfee Releases Q3 2010 Financials

For the third quarter of 2010, McAfee reported an 8% increase in revenues to $523 million USD. A 6% change in net income to $104 million in the third quarter of 2010 from $99 million in the corresponding quarter one

PAETEC Posts Increased Revenue, Continued Losses on Acquisitions

PAETEC announced its third quarter financial results for 2010. The company reported a revenue of $408.4 million, a 3.2% increase over the third quarter of 2009. The majority of the boost resulted from the increased
revenue provided by several recently acquired companies, PAETEC said. Despite the revenue boost, the company suffered a net loss for the quarter of $14.8 million, this shows a continued decline from the corresponding quarter of 2009, when the company lost
$6.52 million. This was mostly due to the costs associated with several acquisitions made during the quarter. On these results the company reaffirmed its FY2010 guidance of a revenue between $1.59 billion and $1.63 billion.

Qwest Posts Net Loss; Revenue Down

Qwest Communications, which is being acquired by CenturyLink, said sales fell 3.9 percent to $2.94 billion USD in the third quarter. The company posted a net loss of $90 million, or 5 cents a share, compared with a
profit of $136 million, or 8 cents, a year earlier. On the positive side, Qwest said its Business Markets segment reported strong growth of 24 percent year over year in IP services revenues. During the quarter, 92,000 customers added high-speed Internet
services, bringing total users to 621,000.

Savvis Revenue Up in Third Quarter; Loss Widens

Hosting and managed services provider Savvis reported its third quarter 2010 financial results, with revenue of $241.9 million USD, compared to $213.2 million in the third quarter of 2009. Adjusted EBITDA (Earnings
Before Interest, Taxes, Depreciation and Amortization) was $59.7 million, compared to $51.2 million of adjusted EBITDA in the third quarter of 2009. Savvis reported a net loss of $26.2 million USD, or $0.47 per share, in the third quarter of 2010, which
included approximately $11.8 million in costs related to the company’s debt refinancing. Savvis had a net loss of $9.9 million, or $0.18 per share, in the third quarter of 2009.

Verisign Posts Increased Revenue, Huge Profits on Auth Biz Sale

Verisign announced its financial results for the third quarter of its 2010 fiscal year. The company posted a total revenue of $173 million, up 10% from the same period in 2009. Net income increased massively year
over year, going from $54.5 million during the third quarter of 2009 to $785.5 million. This is almost entirely due to $740.7 million in income from discontinued operations, which consisted of the sale of its Authentication Service business. Earnings per

AT&T Business Solutions Sets Up New “ForHealth” Practice

AT&T announced it is establishing a new division, ForHealth, that will offer wireless, networked, and cloud-based solutions specifically for the healthcare industry. ForHealth is part of the carrier’s Business Solutions
group. AT&T said examples of healthcare solutions that could use its technology include: medicine bottles that remind patients to take pills on schedule; devices that monitor patients’ heart levels from their homes; and audio/video links that can replace
the need for an in-person visit to the doctor. AT&T Business Solutions said a number of healthcare services are currently under development, including mHealth Services, which combines a range of mobility technologies; and cloud-based services designed for
sharing and managing clinical data.

Dell to Provide EMR System, Services for Methodist Hospitals

Dell Services will provide an Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system and support services for the Methodist Hospital Physician Organization of Houston (MHPO), TX, US. The

AOL announced the launch of a revamped AOL.com homepage. The new site focuses on what the company calls “day-parts,” which are morning, afternoon, and evening. Each one of these periods features a different catalogue of
content, such as important news stories in the morning, entertainment and fashion news in the afternoon, and lifestyle pieces in the evening. AOL has also added numerous features, including several video feeds, a video feedback upload service, shopping

Google Sets Record By Accounting for More than 1% of Web Traffic Share

Google has set a new record for Internet traffic, according to Arbor Networks. The security blog says the search engine accomplished
a worldwide first by accounting for more than 1% of Web traffic share worldwide since January. Arbor goes on to say that this amount of traffic would place Google in second place, globally, if it were ranked against Internet service providers (ISPs).

ICANN Approves “Qatar” IDN ccTLD for Public Use

The Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) announced that it has approved the IDN ccTLD (Internationalized Domain Name country code Top Level Domain) for “Qatar,” as written in the Arabic
alphabet. This clears the Qatar domain to go into public use. The new top-level domain will be managed by the Supreme Council of Information and Communication, ictQATAR. This announcement brings the total number of IDN ccTLDs in the DNS root zone to
16, which represents a total of 13 different countries or territories. ICANN said 33 more requests in a total of 22 different languages are still awaiting approval.

W3C Ranks Browsers for HTML5 Compatibility

The World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) announced the results of its HTML5 conformance test. The group tested the latest version of Microsoft‘s Internet Explorer, Mozilla‘s Firefox, Google‘s Chrome, Opera, and Apple‘s Safari for their respective level of compatibility with
the Web protocol. Of the tested browser, Internet Explorer fared the best, scoring less than 100% in only 2 of the 7 tested categories, with its lowest score being 83.88%. Chrome came in second with 3 categories under 100%, while Firefox was close behind
with 4 less-than-perfect results. Opera scored 100% in only three categories, and 0% in the “foreigncontent” category. Safari fared worst with only 2 categories registering at 100%. The full

Apple Sues Motorola; Claims Patent Infringement

Apple has filed a patent-infringement suit against Motorola, alleging that the company’s smartphones and the operating software it uses infringe on Apple’s intellectual property.
The two lawsuits come after Motorola’s action against Apple – a suit filed in October claiming patent infringement. Apple filed its lawsuits in US district court in Wisconsin, The Wall Street Journal reported. Apple is
requesting that a judge award damages and attorney’s fees and that the courts stop Motorola from selling the products. Motorola said it would contest the lawsuits.

Google Sues US Department of the Interior Over Contracting Dispute

Google has filed a lawsuit against the US Department of the Interior claiming it was unfairly excluded from competing for a contract to revamp the department’s email system.
Google says that, despite having been told that the contracting competition would be completely open, the department later specified that only Microsoft Business Productivity Online Suite-Federal could be used for email under the contract. The search giant
called the decision “arbitrary and capricious."

Telefonica O2 announced a strategic alliance with Jasper Wireless to connect machine-to-machine (M2M) networks with consumer electronic devices. The new Telefonica Control Center powered by Jasper Wireless allows
manufacturers to create devices capable of connecting to, and managing, M2M devices for the purpose of automation and advanced control features. Other benefits include decreased complexity, reduced time-to-market, and lower cost of ownership, according to

AppRiver, a Web security vendor, reported that a malicious online scam is targeting US military service people and their families, attempting to steal personal and financial information. The phishing scam targets
those members of the USAA, a financial institution that has many armed forces personnel among its clients. The malicious messages direct users to a fake login page and then request login and financial information.

Kaspersky Sees High Zeus Activity in October

Recent arrests of cybercriminals who have used the Zeus botnet to steal sensitive data has done little to curb other forms of Zeus malware from causing damage, according to Kaspersky Lab‘s Monthly Malware

Opera Announces Opera Mini Support for 8 T-Mobile USA Feature Phones

Opera announced that its Opera Mini browser is now available for download on 8 feature phone models on the T-Mobile USA network. The models are the Nokia 2330, Nokia 2720, Nokia 3711, Nokia 5130, Sony Ericsson
Equinox, Samsung T239, Samsung T659 and Nokia E73 Mode. Owners of these phones can now visit Opera’s mobile site to download the software via the default browser on their phones. Standard data charges will apply upon use of

SAP Launches Business One Application for iPhone

SAP announced the launch of an iPhone version of its SAP Business One application. The new app features customizable alerts and approvals for specified events, access to real-time reports from SAP Crystal Reports,
access to customer and partner data, and inventory monitoring. The application is available from the Apple app store as a free part of the maintenance contract for customers with a professional user license of SAP

TIBCO announced that TIBCO Spotfire Web Player version 3.2.1 has added touchscreen support for the Apple iPad. The analytics software offers several multi-touch gestures, such as

Countries Tighten Air Security after Parcel Bomb Discoveries

The US, Canada, Germany, and the United Kingdom are among the many countries putting new security rules in place after an international mail bomb plot was thwarted, a plot believed to have originated in Yemen. The US Department of Homeland Security is still evaluating the situation as it applies to both cargo and passenger flights but said late last week it "has taken a number of steps to enhance security." The agency said
some of the security measures will be visible while others will not – and include heightened cargo screening and additional passenger screening at airports. Cargo shipments from Yemen have been stopped, at least temporarily, by many countries.

FEMA Issues New Emergency Sheltering Guidelines

The Federal Emergency Management Agency announced new guidelines on emergency sheltering to ensure that people with access and functional needs receive assistance in the aftermath of a disaster. The Functional Needs
Support Services Guidance, or FNSS, gives state governments recommendations to help provide emergency sheltering services that meet the needs of their communities and are in compliance with existing federal laws designed to prevent discrimination on the
basis of disability.

Limited Progress Made in National Preparedness Capabilities, GAO Says

The Government Accountability Office (GAO) issued a report detailing the Federal Emergency Management Agency’s (FEMA) efforts to assess national preparedness. The GAO found that FEMA
developed a Comprehensive Assessment System, a five-step process for analyzing available preparedness data, but has not developed national preparedness capability requirements to provide a framework for such assessments. In addition, FEMA has been delayed
in fully implementing the five-step process.

Recently, the Government Accountability Office (GAO) researched the extent of variation in the Federal Aviation Administration’s (FAA) interpretation of standards for certification and
approval decisions, which are the methods used to deem new aircraft, the design of aircraft parts, and new air operators safe for use in the national airspace system. In an effort to determine the effectiveness of the certification and approval process,
the GAO recommended that the FAA develop an evaluation process and set performance goals.

A draft report from the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) on a fire at a South Carolina sofa store
in June 2007 provides recommendations for enhancing building, occupant, and firefighter safety nationwide. Eleven recommendations were made, including the need for state and local communities to adopt and adhere to current national model building and fire
safety codes, which could have prevented the Sofa Super Store fire that killed nine firefighters in Charleston in 2007.

European Experts Take Part in Simulated Cyber Attack Exercise

Security experts in Europe tested responses in the first ever pan-European cyber-attack simulation exercise, “Cyber Europe 2010.” The European Union simulation was based on a scenario where Internet connectivity
between European countries was gradually lost or significantly reduced in all participating countries so that citizens, businesses, and public institutions would find it difficult to access essential online services. The exercise was designed to enhance
EU member states’ understanding of how cyber incidents are handled, and test communication links and procedures in case of a real, large-scale cyber attack, according to EU security agency ENISA.

US Cyber Command Fully Operational

The Department of Defense said its new US Cyber Command, which is responsible for shielding 15,000 military computer networks from intruders, has become fully operational. In a press release, the Defense Department said achieving full operational capacity involved Cyber Command completing a number of tasks, which included establishing a Joint Operations
Center and transitioning personnel and functions from two existing organizations, the Joint Task Force for Global Network Operations and the Joint Functional Component Command for Network Warfare. US Cyber Command, headed by General Keith Alexander, is a
US armed forces sub-unified command subordinate to United States Strategic Command. In late September, the European Commission proposed new regulation saimed at strengthening the EU agency dedicated to network
security, ENISA.

European Commission Set to Crack Down on Web Privacy

EurActiv reported that Web firms will have to seek Internet users’ explicit consent before downloading their personal data, and must make it possible for private information to be permanently deleted from the Web,
according to a draft European Commission strategy report unveiled November 4th. The EC is gearing up for a crackdown on how Web companies, in particular social networking sites and online advertising firms, use
citizens’ private data, EurActiv said.

ZTE Receives FIPS CAVP Certification for Wireless Equipment

Telecom equipment and networking company ZTE announced it has received certification from the US National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) for the FIPS (Federal
Information Processing Standards) 140-2 Cryptographic Algorithm Validation Program (CAVP) in wireless infrastructure equipment. ZTE said it is the first Chinese telecom provider to receive FIPS 140-2 security validation from NIST. Any product with a
cryptographic module being purchased in the US requires FIPS validation from NIST.

Bing Announces Completion of Facebook Implementation

Bing announced that it has completed the launch of its Facebook integrating Social Features. The final version was altered following complaints from some users over their’ inability to find certain friends on its
Facebook profiles search page. Bing has chosen to allow all user profiles to show up in searches, as long as the user in question has shared information with the friend doing the search. This function effectively circumvents the option users have to
prevent their profile from appearing on public search engines. However, Bing notes that this will be limited specifically to Facebook profile searches, and that these individuals will not appear on a standard Bing search. In addition, Bing has lowered the
minimum age for a user to appear in a search to match Facebook’s own minimum age of 13.

Adobe Shockwave Player Vulnerability Resolved

Adobe released an advisory and an update for Shockwave Player 11.5.8.612 and earlier versions on the Windows and Macintosh operating
systems. By exploiting the vulnerabilities, an attacker could run malicious code on an affected system. Adobe released version 11.5.9.615 to resolve this issue.

Coverity Tests Find a Whopping 359 Security Bugs in Android

Coverity, which offers tools to find problems with software, released its Scan 2010 Open Source Integrity Report, providing analysis of more than 61 million lines of open source code from 291 widely-used open
source projects such as Android, Linux, Apache, Samba and PHP, among others. The report’s findings detailed 359 security flaws in Android, and 25% of those defects are high risk
with the potential to cause security breaches and crashes. In addition, almost half of the defects discovered in open source projects are classified as high risk.

Facebook Reveals UIDs were Sold During Recent Data Breach

Facebook revealed in a developer blog post that some data brokers had indeed been able to purchase user IDs (UIDs) obtained by developers exploiting a
recent security flaw. The flaw in question has since been fixed, and the social network says that no personal information was accessed. Facebook says that it has taken action against the developers in question, including a six-month ban of their usage of
Facebook’s communication channels, and a mandatory review of their data practices to be conducted regularly following their reinstatement. In total, 12 “mostly small” developers were revealed to have participated in the sale of UIDs. Facebook also noted in
its blog post that Rapleaf, a data broker that it worked with during the investigation of the breach, has since agreed to delete all of its collected UIDs, and abstain from collecting any information from the Facebook platform going forward.

Insecure Library Loading Flaw Confirmed in Windows

A vulnerability has been found in Microsoft Windows, which is caused by the Data Access Objects library (dao360.dll) loading libraries (e.g. msjet49.dll) in an insecure manner. Successful exploitation allows
execution of arbitrary code. The vulnerability is confirmed in fully patched versions of Windows XP Professional SP3, Windows Server 2003 R2 Enterprise Edition SP3, Windows Vista Business SP1, and Windows 7 Professional.

Microsoft Advisory Issued for Exploited Explorer Flaw

Microsoft released a security advisory that addresses a zero-day vulnerability that impacts Internet Explorer (IE) users if they visit
a Web site hosting malicious code. Vulnerable versions include Internet Explorer 6, 7 and 8. The advisory also details a workaround that customers can apply that will protect all affected versions of IE from this issue. This vulnerability is in the
processing of a specific combination of Cascading Style Sheets (CSS) tags.

PayPal Fixes iPhone App Glitch

CNET reported that PayPal has rushed out a fix for a bug in its iPhone app that could result in “man in the middle” attacks. Unsuspecting users could think that they were accessing
their PayPal accounts when they were actually on an unsafe Web site designed to steal personal and financial information. Only the PayPal iPhone app was affected by this glitch.

Americans Leery of Surfing on Mobile Devices

A new Symantec study found that 87 percent of Americans feel their home computers are protected from viruses and other types of attacks but that their mobile devices are not as safe. The study shows that 61 percent of Americans feel somewhat safe regarding the protection of their home computers, while only 28 percent feel they are somewhat safe while using their mobile
devices to go online.

Trend Micro: Viruses Biggest Concern for Small Businesses

A survey of 1600 end users in the US, UK, Germany, and Japan found that 63 percent of small businesses were most concerned about viruses, 60 percent by Trojans, 59 percent by data-stealing
malware, and 56 percent by data leaks. Trend Micro‘s 2010 corporate end user survey also revealed that small organizations are 23 percent less likely to have preventive data leak policies in place than large

IBM Debuts Integrated Distribution Outage Planner with Shanghai Power

IBM announced the launch of a new pilot program in collaboration with Shanghai Power. The company has designed a system, called the Integrated Distribution Outage Planner (IDOP), which is designed to decrease the impact
of power outages, while simultaneously improving productivity. IBM says that, since the IDOP solution was implemented, Shanghai Power has increased power sales by 50 million kWh per month, resulting in an increase of $5.1 million in revenue per month. No
specific plans for the expansion of the program, or a commercial offering of it were announced.

AT&T, Samsung Mobile to Offer Evergreen Quick Messaging Phone

AT&T and Samsung Mobile announced the upcoming availability of the Samsung Evergreen, a quick messaging phone built with 70% recycled post-consumer plastics and packaging that
uses 80% recycled post-consumer paper. Samsung Mobile said it will donate $1 for every Samsung Evergreen device sold, with a maximum donation of $100,000, to the non-profit organization Cell Phones for Soldiers. The Evergreen will be available beginning
November 7 at AT&T company-owned stores for $29.99 after $50 mail-in rebate. A two-year agreement and $20 a month messaging plan, or combination messaging/data plan are required.

Diaspora Announces List of Updates; Sets Date for Alpha Launch

Diaspora posted its list of new features added during October. They included public messaging functionality with Twitter and Facebook,
access to multiple aspects, the re-sharing of status messages, an invite system for those not registered with the site, email notifications of friends requests, and a “more friendly getting started page.” The fledgling social network says that its core
feature set is almost complete, and that it expects to have an alpha version of its Web site available to the public before Thanksgiving.

Facebook Announces Slew of New Features for Mobile Apps, Site

Facebook announced a spate of new features and changes to its mobile apps and Web site. The company also said it plans to add support for its Places check-in service and Groups to the Android and iPhone versions
of its mobile application. Facebook also announced the launch of a new single sign-on initiative for mobile applications. This will allow users to “sign in with Facebook” on participating third-party apps in a similar fashion to the Facebook sign-in
option found on numerous sites around the Web. Lastly, Facebook revealed its new Deals program. The new promotional offering allows businesses to make special offers to Facebook users that check-in at their retail locations. This includes promotions for
individuals checking in, deals for group check-ins, and charitable donations for check-ins. Facebook revealed that it has numerous retailers already signed up to offer promotions in the near future. More information about all of these new features can be

Facebook announced that it has signed a deal with Yandex, Russia’s largest search engine, to allow results from its social network to be integrated into the Yandex results page. In addition to the syndication feed
of Facebook’s information, the company will also be adding a chat widget to its search page which will connect with Facebook Chat. The social networking giant says the feed it will be providing to Yandex will prioritize news on public figures, businesses,
and organizations important to Russian customers. No financial terms for the partnership were announced.

The PCI Security Standards Council, an industry standards body, will release an updated version of its Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard on January 1. Version 2.0 does not include any new

AWS Launches Reduced Prices for S3 Storage Service

Amazon Web Services (AWS) announced that it has reduced the prices for its Amazon S3 storage service. The reduction affects both Standard and Reduced Redundancy Storage in all regions effective November 1st.

Amazon Announces Expansion of Disc+ On Demand Viewing Option

Amazon announced the expansion of its Disc+ On Demand Service. The feature allows customers who purchase a DVD or Blu-Ray version of a movie to gain instant access to a streaming version of the movie via Amazon’s
Video On Demand service. The new expansion brings the number of movies available on Disc+ to 10,000, including both new releases, and vintage titles. A full list of the movies eligible for the

blinkX announced the launch of blinkx Beat for Google TV , its new Web channel of viral videos designed specifically for Google’s interactive television devices. The channel

NTT Com to Launch IP Service for Global Enterprise-Internal Dialing

NTT Communications announced that, beginning December 1, it will become Japan’s first telecom carrier to offer multinational customers a voice-over-Internet-protocol (VoIP) service for internal dialing between global
offices. The service will be offered through NTT Com’s managed network service for enterprise customers, called Arcstar Global IP-VPN. NTT Communications also announced plans to launch other new IP communications services next year, including unified
voice, video, web conferencing and instant/unified messaging; external dialing and call receiving from worldwide bases; and cloud-based global call centers.

Amazon Announces Gift Card Delivery Via Facebook

Amazon announced a new method of giving gift cards using Facebook. This new delivery option allows the purchaser to choose a design, amount, and personalized message which will
appear on the recipients wall on the date of their choosing, up to one year in advance. Customers wishing to purchase gift cards in this way are required to connect their own Facebook accounts to their Amazon account prior to the completion of their order. Gift cards are available in amounts up to $5,000.

AOL announced the addition of two new products to its ADTECH advertising platform: ADTECH Order and ADTECH Mobile. ADTECH Order offers customers a unified method of handling inventory, campaign booking, and billing

Google Allows Twitter’s Promoted Tweets Ads on Search Results Page

Google is now allowing Twitter‘s promoted tweets to appear as advertisements on its search pages, according to an article on SearchEngineLand. The post notes that the new ads will not appear in general Google searches, but will show up when a user specifically selects real-time search results
from Google’s filtering options. This marks the first time that Google has allowed a third party’s ads to be distributed across its search results pages in this fashion. A representative from Twitter told SearchEngineLand that the companies have
established a 50/50 revenue split for all advertisements placed in this way.
